Supervision
(CAP)
#1: For Clinical/Counselling
We offer both primary & secondary supervision (Alberta only).
Fees are offered on a sliding scale, as outlined below. Our intention is to provide a supportive learning space where you can debrief, access resources, and receive clinical feedback to guide your work with clients. Supervision sessions are structured and goal oriented, and are organized around your specific agenda. During these meetings, you are encouraged to use reflective statements such as “I do not know” and “tell me more” to support curiosity and clinical exploration. Supervisees are strongly recommended to take Parts 1 and 2 of our ethics training to gain the knowledge competency of relational charting and relational consent practices as this is our style of practice.
#2: For Teaching Competencies
DPS supervisors bring extensive teaching experience. Supervision fees may be waived or offered on a sliding scale. We provide active guidance and a range of practical resources to support you in designing, evaluating, and delivering engaging psychology and counsellor education courses. This supervision stream is intended to strengthen your capacity to create dynamic, effective learning experiences for your audience.
#3: For Research Competencies
Dawn McBride, owner of DPS, is an active professor of counselling with an established record of research and scholarship. Alyson Worrall also brings research experience to supervision. We provide structured guidance to support the development of impactful research questions, sound methodological design, and rigorous analysis. Support is also offered throughout the writing process to strengthen clarity, coherence, and scholarly communication.
Fees: Supervision Services
Fee Option 1
If you work exclusively in a non-profit setting and receive no funding toward your CAP supervision fees, we acknowledge the significant contribution of non-profit work and the financial realities that may accompany it. You are invited to select a supervision rate based on what you can reasonably afford, on a sliding scale of $80.00 to $300.00 per hour. Your fees to attend Parts 1 and 2 ethics PD training are also waived.
Fee Option 3
If your private practice involves booking an average of 6 or fewer clients per week/per month, you are invited to select a supervision rate that reflects your current practice level and what you deem as fair on a sliding scale of $145.00 to $300 per hour. This fee applies regardless of where else you work or whether an agency pays your supervision fee. Fees to attend the ethics Part 1 & 2 PD training are discounted.
Fee Option 2
If you work in a non-profit setting and your CAP supervision fees are funded in part or in full, you and your agency are invited to select a supervision rate based on the agency’s available budget, on a sliding scale of $130.00 to $300.00 per hour. Your fees to attend Parts 1 and 2 ethics PD training shall be substantially reduced.
Fee Option 4
Given you maintain an active private practice, booking an average of 7 or more clients per week within a month, you are invited to select your supervision rate of what you believe is fair and reasonable on a sliding scale of $200.00 to $300.00 per hour. This applies regardless of where else you work or whether an agency pays your supervision fee. Fees to attend the ethics Part 1 & 2 PD training are discounted.
Additional Notes About Fees:
-
Further fee discounts may be applied. For example, if supervision is paid in a lump sum, a discounted rate may be offered, dependent on the type of supervision provided and DPS owner approval.
-
The supervisor, with DPS owner approval, determines the supervisee's rate, which may be offered, accepted, or adjusted at the supervisor’s discretion. The supervision rate may also be adjusted if the eligibility criteria change for two consecutive working weeks. Any revised rate will remain in effect for at least 2 weeks
-
A travel fee, plus parking, typically applies for each visit to your counselling office within Lethbridge. Fees for locations outside Lethbridge vary and will be discussed in advance.
-
The agreed-upon hourly rate applies to all supervision-related activities, including attending any type of supervision-related meetings (e.g., case conferences), reviewing case files, and completing any type of supervision-related documentation. For post-supervision work (e.g., court cases), the rate is the same as the rate on the last billing.
-
DPS is required to charge GST for all supervision services
-
Fees will be invoiced and receipts issued. Relevant administrative information about the supervisee and supervision contract may be shared with appropriate DPS staff or professionals as required.
-
Supervision may be provided in person, by videoconference, or by phone, provided the client has approved the communication method. Services are limited to Alberta.
We offer free
meet & greet sessions with potential supervisees.
